  • ABOUT THE WINE: The lion’s share of this release comes from the outstandingĀ Aux FourneauxĀ lieu-dit in the north of the village. Leroux works with lots of Pinot Fin here (a high-quality, low-yielding Pinot Noir cultivar), giving low yields and great concentration. The fruit from these vines, fermented with 15% bunches, includes about 10% from the 1er Cru section of the vineyard. The ConnardisesĀ parcel that used to contribute to thisĀ cuvĆ©eĀ has now been sold, and replaced this year by Saucours, a vineyard on the western extension of the slope that includes Les Hauts Jarrons. Leroux explains that Saucours, on alluvial soils, brings the bright red fruits and Aux Fourneaux provides the depth and backbone. It’s a fine combination that may even surpass the previous blend.   • ABOUT THE PRODUCER:Ā Benjamin Leroux is one of the most exiting modern producers in Burgundy. He created a name for himself at DomaineĀ du ComteĀ Armand (where he was appointed the general manager at just 24 years of age) before setting up his own negociant business in 2007. Today he owns or manages about 30% of the vineyards that go into his wines with his range of wines coming from across the Cote d'Or, from Chassagne-Montrachet to Gevrey-Chambertin. His own holdings are all certified organic (with many biodynamic principals also applied) with sourced vineyards sharing his own farming philosophy's. His winemaking is well known for his discreet handlingĀ of oak and purity of fruit expression.
