Dog Point Sauvignon Blanc 2024

  • TASTING NOTE: "A washing line of fresh linen, spring daisies and gently waving buffalo grass. There is lemon posset, limestone, chalk and grapefruit skin.
Citrus and white stone fruit flavours centre deeply in the mid-palate, with a tantalising amount of fresh fruit sweetness and cascading and yet tapered acidity. This is just a top-notch white wine, full stop. Detailed, layered and moreish in every sense of the word. Close your eyes and take in the pretty aromas, taste the sandy dry mineral tones, consider the palate length and quality and you know you can only be drinking Dog Point from their esteemed Wairau sites in Marlborough. The savoury cream tones add further complexity and finesse. This is a global benchmark for sauvignon blanc." 97 Points - Shanteh Wale, Halliday
  • ABOUT THE WINE: This consistently low-yielding Sauvignon Blanc comes from an organic vineyard in Marlborough, where the vines benefit from sunny, dry afternoons during the ripening season. The grapes are whole-bunch pressed and cold settled prior to fermentation, followed by four months of aging in stainless steel tanks to retain the wine's fresh and vibrant character. A portion is fermented with wild yeast, introducing an extra layer of complexity to the wine.
  • ABOUT THE PRODUCER:  The vineyard was originally planted by Ivan and Margaret Sutherland in the 1970s, with the Dog Point label officially launched in 2004, debuting the 2002 vintage. Today, it stands as New Zealand's largest certified organic vineyard, nestled on the hill slopes of the Southern Valleys in Marlborough. The name "Dog Point" refers to Marlborough’s earliest European settlement and the introduction of sheep farming in the area. The vineyard is home to Sauvignon Blanc, Chardonnay, and Pinot Noir, all cultivated using organic practices.
