Henschke 'Innes Vineyard' Pinot Gris 2025

Henschke 'Innes Vineyard' Pinot Gris 2025

  • TASTING NOTE: "Juicy and bright. A little chalky pucker on hand. Good aromatics that show off frangipani, preserved lemon, Japanese pickled ginger and brown pear. The textural experience elevates things too; it feels like the grapes were firmly pressed, eking out chew and chomp through the palate. Enough flavour to deliver strong DNA of the variety, too. Perhaps just a touch diffuse overall, but pleasing generally." 93 Points - Mike Bennie, Halliday Wine Companion
  • ABOUT THE WINE: The Adelaide Hills has an altitude ranging from 400-600m and rainfall of around 700-1000mm. The soils of sandy loam overlying weathered shale and clay provide excellent conditions for viticulture, which was first established in the Adelaide Hills in 1839 by John Barton Hack near Mount Barker. Littlehampton lies on the eastern side of the Adelaide Hills, just 5km from Mount Barker, and has a unique aspect for superlative pinot gris. This wine is named as a tribute to the Innes family, dedicated growers of the Innes Vineyard Pinot Gris for over 25 years. Pinot gris, called tokay d’Alsace in France, grauburgunder in Germany and pinot grigio in Italy, has its origins in France and has become a highly regarded variety around the world. Fermented in stainless steel and held on lees in tank for 6 months with regular stirring to build complexity.
  • ABOUT THE PRODUCER: Henschke is one of Australia's great wine producers, situated in Keyneton in the Eden Valley of South Australia. The Henschke's trace their roots in Australia to the mid 19th century with the first recorded sale of Henschke wine in 1868. It's flagship wine, the 'Hill Of Grace' Shiraz is sourced from a single vineyard from vines over 160 years old. The current generations of the Henschke family (5th and 6th) that tend the 109 hectares under vine in the Eden Valley, Barossa Valley and Adelaide Hills, use organic and biodynamic principals in their vineyards and are world leaders in sustainable wine production.
